All it takes is $2 and a dream. The jackpot for tonight's Powerball drawing has swelled to an eye popping $550 million. People all across Toledo were filing into their favorite convenience store to purchase tickets. Toledo resident Isaac Saxby purchased his tickets at the Valero gas station on South Byrne Road and expressed confidence that he was in possession of the winning numbers. "If I win I will take care of my family first and then myself," Mr. Saxby said.
If someone wins the jackpot they will have two payment options. They can either take a lump sum payment which would amount to $360.2 million before taxes. Or they can take 30 annual payments. 42 states and the District of Columbia participate in the Powerball lottery game. If tonight's jackpot is hit each jurisdiction would receive about $3.7 million for local education programs. If no one hits the jackpot tonight Saturday's drawing could have a prize near $800 million.
