Drivers traveling throughout northwest Ohio should expect checkpoints by Ohio State Highway Patrol during this week.
Officials will have an OVI checkpoint in Defiance County, Thursday at 9 p.m. on State Route 111 on south Clinton Street. The Defiance County Sheriffâ??s Office will assist troopers during the checkpoints.
Authorities strongly urge the public to designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before drink and driving. Patrols plan to combat aggressively alcohol-related injuries and fatal crashes.
This is just one of several checkpoints planned this week.
Authorities announced Sylvania Township will have a checkpoint Friday and announce its location some time Friday afternoon.
Drivers traveling through Williams County will undergo a checkpoint. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a checkpoint will take place Friday evening and announce its location Friday morning.
