It TMs no April fools joke - as of April 1 you can legally drive 70 mph on all 241 miles of the Ohio Turnpike. The 5 mph increase was approved last December by members of the turnpike commission. The increase will allow all vehicles " including buses and rigs - to take advantage of the new speed. Spokeswoman Lauren Hakos hopes the higher speeds will entice drivers, including haulers, to use the toll highway instead of secondary routes. The Indiana Turnpike currently has a 70 miles per hour limit, though trucks and buses may not exceed 65. Pennsylvania Turnpike limits all traffic to 65 mph.
Have your say. Is a higher speed limit on the Ohio Turnpike a good or bad move? What can we expect to come with the increased speed? Share your thoughts by leaving a comment below. If you haven't left a comment on toledoonthemove.com before, registration takes less than 20 seconds!
