One dead after shooting in Central Toledo

Shots rang out near Macomber St and Upton in Central Toledo Sunday afternoon.

The gunfire came after several people called 9-1-1 about a fight.

"Officers arrived and found one victim who ended up passing away, that's Deasia Wallace, she was treated at the scene and later transferred to Toledo Hospital where she passed away," said Lt. Gerken with the Toledo Police Department.

Another 15-year-old was shot, she is expected to recover.

Police currently have a 16-year-old suspect in custody for the shootings.

Investigators say he was found in the hospital recovering from gunshot wounds.

"A third person ended up being shot in the incident and he ended up being our shooter, 16-year-old, he's been booked into JJC on murder and felonious assault for the shootings of the two girls just mentioned," said Lt. Gerken.

Toledo Police say it's actively searching for a second gunman, who shot the suspect.

Neighbors tell NBC 24 they can't believe what happened and thought it was just a simple fight.
