One dies after water rescue in Point Place

TOLEDO, Oh. (WNWO) -- One person has died after a water rescue in Point Place.

Washington Township emergency crews responded to the scene off Shoreland Avenue shortly around 8 a.m. on a call of a personal watercraft found smoking near some lily pads in the water.

The body of an adult male was located behind the Jet Ski. The body, which had no life jacket on, has no traumatic injuries.

The Lucas County Coroner has identified the body as that of Charles Swyers, III, 59.

Police say there is front-end damage to the watercraft and some minimal damage to a bridge nearby.

No other details have been released.
