Oregon man shot after firing shots at police cruiser

At 5:12 a.m. Oregon police were called to the Piccadilly East apartments. Police say once crews arrived on the scene they spotted a man running through a parking lot. The suspect, who has been identified as 24-year-old Jeff Belew, pulled out a gun and fired several shots at a police cruiser. Two shots hit the front end of one cruiser.

After the suspect opened fire, an officer shot the suspect once. According to police it was a non-life threatening injuries. Police say they were called to break up a fight between the suspect and his brother. When in route they were informed that one of the brothers had a firearm.

No word yet on the suspects condition. Police say no one else was injured during the shooting. Charges against the suspect are pending.
