TOLEDO - Owens Community College Culinary art students have more than just a kitchen to improve their culinary skills.
Owens Community College opened its newly built center on Tuesday. The facility expanded to a 14,000 square foot that features a baking lab, culinary skills lab, and restaurant skills lab.
The new facility, which cost $3.1 million, also includes a classroom and a 75-room dining area that overlooks a tree-lined patio. Students will host lunches and special events and learn how to create menus, prep and serve food.
Joann Gruner, the chair of Food, Nutrition and Hospitality, said the facility allows them to eliminate student wait lists.
