Dr. Larry McDougle, President of Owens Community College since June 2010, will be stepping down from the post effective September 30. John Satkowski, Executive Vice President of Business Affairs, has been appointed to serve as interim president.
"This is certainly one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in my life, said Dr. McDougle. With the support of my family, my physician and the Board of Trustees, I have decided to retire as Owens Community College TMs President for health reasons.
McDougle served as interim president of the college from January to June of 2010, taking over for Dr. Christa Adams who resigned at the end of 2009.
The college's board of trustees have retained the services of a global recruitment agency to assist them in finding a replacement for Dr. McDougle. Their goal is to have a new president in place before the end of the 2011-2012 academic year, according to Dee Talmage, chair of Owens' board of trustees.
