Things are looking up at Toledo Express Airport as more travelers are passing through gates.
The airport had a total of 15,280 passengers travel through the airport in May, more than 26% increase in traffic over May of last year. It was the third consecutive month of increased passenger traffic at the airport, according to the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority.
"More and more travelers are seeing the benefits of flying from Toledo Express," said Paul Toth, President and CEO for the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority. "Community support from the region is crucial for the continued success of the airport."
Increased capacity, options for popular vacation destinations, competitive prices, and hub connectivity are all believed to be reasons for the increase in travelers. Allegiant Airlines operates flights to vacation destinations in Florida. The carrier's passenger totals were up 66% in May.
American Eagle Airlines continues to operate multiple daily flights to Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
