A Toledo woman was killed early Monday morning after stepping into a road in central Toledo.

A Toledo woman was killed early Monday morning after stepping into a road in central Toledo.

62-year-old Nazia Awada was walking along Franklin Avenue around 5 a.m. when she stepped into the path of a Chrysler Minivan driven by 60-year-old Ralph Worthy.

Worthy immediately called 9-1-1 and remained at the scene until help arrived.

Awada was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

The incident occurred just past the intersection of Delaware Avenue and Franklin.

An investigation is on-going; however, police say alcohol and speed were not factors.
