The Village of Pemberville is preparing homes and businesses after getting damaged by flooding in December and January.
It has been taking a pro-active step by handing out sandbags at no charge to residents and homeowners.
Pemberville Mayor Gordon Bowman was at the village's facilities building on Wednesday helping residents fill sandbags. "It's looking likely that there will be some flooding, the question is whether it will be minor or significant," Mayor Bowman said.
Village resident Bob Brossia lives in the flood zone. "Well our concern is that we are on the north branch of the Portage and when the main river fills up the drainage pipe fills up and water gets into our basement," Mr. Brossia said.
According to Mayor Bowman, the village collected 25 tons of sand. "We're trying to be pro-active, ahead of the curve and if we can provide some assistance to our village residents, we will do that," Mr. Bowman said.
