It was a packed house Thursday night as the public weighed in on a proposal to bring in a new Costco.

The Perrysburg City Planning Commission held a preliminary site plan meeting to discuss the proposed site.

The meeting was packed, with people standing and sitting on the floor. Some of the people at the meeting supported Costco moving in, "Perrysburg is a nice city and I think these kind of places put it really on the map," explained Perrysburg resident Judy Parry.

Not everyone thinks it's a good idea. City leaders say the biggest concern they've heard so far is about traffic, followed by the proposed location of the store. The proposed site is on Eckel Junction Road near State Route 25 and Interstate 475.

City leaders say they hear resident concerns and are weighing the bad and the good, "Costco is a high paying retailer. They bring a lot of jobs. A lot of tax revenue. They bring a high quality product to Perrysburg," explained Brody Walters from

ity Planning and Zoning Department.

The planning commission voted 5 to 2 in Costco's favor to approve the preliminary site plan and sent a recommendation to city council.

City council will take up the recommendation at their meeting Dec. 17 at 6 pm.
