Petco has announced it will stop selling dog and cat treats made in China by the end of the year.
The chain says the move was spurred by concerns that the imported treats might be making pets sick.
According to the FDA, nearly 5,000 pet illnesses and 1,000 dog deaths have been reported after pets ate jerky treats made in China.
The agency, however, hasn't identified the exact source of the illnesses.
Still, Petco says its customers are asking the chain to stop selling the treats.
The retailer says it's only going to sell treats made in the U.S., New Zealand, Australia, and South America.
