Police catch carjackers after chase in South Toledo

The stolen Honda had to be towed from the scene after the suspects stopped at Eastgate Drive.

Four men are behind bars after taking police on a chase through South Toledo in a stolen car.

According to Toledo police, officers attempted to stop a 2010 silver Honda for traffic violations near Spencer Street and Western Avenue just after 4 a.m. The vehicle took off and a pursuit ensued.

During the chase, police dispatch received a call from a 24-year-old woman who said she had just been carjacked at gun point at Lodge and Nelson and that her car was a silver Honda.

At 4:23 a.m., the stolen Honda stopped at Eastgate and Airport and the suspects attempted to flee on foot. All four occupants were caught and two firearms and cocaine were recovered during the arrest.

Police arrested Wesley Jude, Christopher Smith and Johnathon Williams, all 18 years old, and 19-year-old Tyquandre Carpenter.

There were no injuries during the pursuit.
