Police in Maumee say they have found the man they believe stole a Salvation Army red kettle from the Anderson's Store Saturday evening.
Shawn Krieger, 44, of Toledo, was taken into custody early Monday morning. A warrant was issued for his arrest late Sunday after police recovered the stolen kettle in the 500-block of Meyers St. The kettle's stand was found in the 900 block of S. Reynolds Rd.
No money was found inside the kettle when it was recovered.
According to police, Kreiger grabbed the kettle from in front of a bell ringer Saturday evening outside the Anderson's General Store in Illinois Ave. in Maumee. Krieger pushed the bell ringer to the ground, when she tried to grab the kettle back from him, and shouted, "I can't stand you and your bell-ringing. I hate Christmas."
Police found the stolen truck used in the heist Saturday night.
Krieger was charged with robbery and is being held on $25,000 bond.
The Salvation Army says the kettle held between $500 and $700 in donations when it was stolen.
