An early morning hit and run incident left Adrian Police seeking leads about the unknown driver, who failed to stop after mowing down a man on Park Street.

Around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, the victim stopped at the stop sign on Park at Michigan Avenue to check an unsecure passenger door. As he exited his car, a vehicle turning left struck him down and drove off.

The victim told police he thought the vehicle was a medium sized passenger car. He was transported to Bixby Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, but his current condition was not released.

Police noted in their report that there were construction barrels in the roadway near the point of collision. The driver may have swerved to avoid the barrels and might not have known that a pedestrian was struck, as the pavement is under construction, and the impact may have felt like striking a pothole.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the driver or vehicle involved in the crash can contact Officer Gary Lindsay at at 517-264-4808.
