Sylvania Police are investigating a report of a rape that allegedly occurred inside Flower Hospital.
A police report indicates the incident happened Tuesday, April 1 around 10 a.m. The suspect forcibly engaged in sexual acts with a 21-year-old female without her consent, according to the report.
Sylvania Police said the female victim was a patient at the time of the incident and is currently an employee at the hospital. However, ProMedica Flower Hospital released a statement Thursday saying the victim is not an employee of the hospital.
"Upon learning of the allegation, hospital staff immediately took appropriate action with the alleged victim and reported the incident to the Sylvania Police who are actively investigating," the statement said. "At ProMedica Flower Hospital, privacy and security are high priorities and we are committed to a safe environment."
Officials have not made any arrests or identified any suspects at this time.
