A Fremont man fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself Wednesday, according to police.
Amy Ross, 43, had been living at her sister's Leutz Road home for about one month. Late Wednesday morning, Ross' husband, Randy, forced entry into the home and chased his wife into a bedroom before shooting her in the chest.
Randy Ross, 47, then shot himself twice in the head, according to Carroll Township Police. When Chief Jody Hatfield arrived at the home, Mr. Ross was observed walking around suffering from self-afflicted gunshot wounds to the head. He was taken by Life Flight to a Toledo hospital. His condition has not been released.
Mrs. Ross was pronounced dead.
Police say they believe the couple's teenage niece was inside the home at the time of the shooting.
The shooting remains under investigation.
