A rash of vehicle break-ins in West Toledo has police asking for the public's help in bringing the culprit to justice.
Toledo Police say at least 12 work trucks have been broken into in the West Toledo area in the past two weeks. They say the suspect(s) are breaking into unoccupied commercial trucks or vans and stealing tools from inside. Four of those break-ins have taken place while trucks were parked in private driveways in the area.
The suspect gains access to the vehicle by breaking a side, passenger window or prying a lock.
The crimes date back to Dec. 22 and have taken place on the following roads in West Toledo: Valley Forge, Lambert, Oakridge, Secor, Stannard, Eastbrook, Foth, Winchester, Talmadge, Opportunity, Monroe, and W. Laskey.
In a photo provided by police, a black male suspect is said to have been behind the wheel of a silver truck seen fleeing a theft at a private residence on Lambert Dr., between Sylvania and Secor. Many of the crimes have taken place in the same area of West Toledo.
