Police talk about latest leads in Baby Elaina's disappearance

D ay 20, in the search for 18-month-old Elaina Steinfurth, began with a false report that someone had found the body of the missing toddler.

Toledo Police would later spend the afternoon trying to assure the public, and baby Elaina's family, that they investigated the tip but found it was a false alarm.

Still, authorities say they are pursuing a number of leads in case.

WNWO asked if investigators had search the Hoffman Road Landfill but a Toledo Police spokesman refused to comment.

When asked if Toledo's Sky Cop system surveillance was being used in the investigation, Toledo Police would only say that they have already accessed any cameras in the area that they think may have captured vital clues.

On Friday, the Toledo Free Press was able to gain an interview with a woman who says Elaina's mother confessed to her sister, in jail, that she was involved in the 18-month-old disappearance.

Authorities could not be reached for comment on the authenticity of those claims.

If you have any information on the case Toledo Police and the FBI have posted a $10,000 reward in the case.
