Police to set Maumee sobriety checkpoint Friday

Police prepare an OVI sobriety checkpoint on Country Blvd.

Maumee Police will have an OVI sobriety checkpoint at the site of a fatal accident that killed a South Toledo man last year.

A passenger died in car crash on the Anthony Wayne Trail October 2012. Investigators said the driver of the other vehicle had been driving under the influence.

The checkpoint is located on US 24 at Country Boulevard and will run from 8 p.m. - midnight. Drivers heading northeast on US 24 will be diverted through the checkpoint to Country Boulevard and the Anthony Wayne Trail.

Officials urge drivers to see the dangers of drinking and driving.
