Primary election voters heading to polls

WNWO and the Toledo Free Press moderated the <a href="">mayoral candidates debate</a> Aug 27.

Polls are open for Primay Election voters Tuesday.

The polls open at 6:30 a.m. and will remain open until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

There are 17 candidates running for six seats on Toledo City Council. The top 12 candidates will move on to the November General Election when six candidates will be elected.

Polls results will also determine General Election candidates in the race for Toledo Mayor. All seven candidates on the ballot include current Mayor Mike Bell, Councilman D. Michaels Collins, Opal Covey, Lucas County Auditor Anita Lopez, Councilman Joe McNamara, Michael Kowinski, and Alan Cox. The results from Tuesday's vote will narrow the race down to two candidates.

WNWO and the Toledo Free Press moderated the mayoral candidates debate Aug 27. Candidates addressed the future of Toledoâ??s water system, right to work in Ohio, size of city government, and strengthening the local economy.

The candidates also had the chance to share their plans for running the city at an NAACP sponsored event Aug.6.
