Putnam County residents, beware: A debit card scam is affecting several people in the county.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, several people have reported receiving calls from Ft. Jennings Bank stating that their debit card has temporarily been deactivated. The message then says to activate your card, they need to text their account number and expiration date from their debit card to that number.
The sheriff is warning residents to not release personal information to the number and if they have, to contact their bank and change their account information.
If your account has been tampered with, contact the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at (419)-523-3208.
