Rave to drop movie ticket prices, close Maumee theater

It has been a Maumee staple for over 12 years, but the former Showcase Cinemas on Conant St. will soon show its final film.
The 18-screen Cinema De Lux theater will close after the last screening on Sunday, July 11. The theater, along with all other former National Amusements screening houses in the area, was bought out by Rave Motion Pictures earlier this year. The Dallas-based company felt the Maumee theater TMs close proximity to Fallen Timbers and Levis Commons was taking away from business.
All employees currently at the Maumee theater will be offered positions at Rave TMs other area theaters, including Fallen Timbers, Levis Commons, and Westfield Franklin Park.
Rave has also announced that, because it considers current ticket prices too high, base ticket prices for adults, children and matinee shows will be reduced by 50-cents beginning Friday, July 2.
