Raw video: Bald Eagle returns to the wild

The raw video shows the caretaker letting go of the eagle as it spread its wings to fly away.

A Bald Eagle gains its freedom in to the wild after receiving care for several weeks at a Castalia rehabilitation center.

Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge invited the public Wednesday to watch its release.

Metzger Marsh Wildlife Area found the adult female bird and discovered it had high levels of mercury in its blood.

Typical wingspans can measure between six to seven feet.

The Bald Eagle was removed under the "threatened" category on the federal government's list by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in June 2007.
