Judge Gene Zmuda OK'ed a second trial for 75-year-old Robert Bowman, who is accused of kidnapping and killing a Sylvania schoolgirl in 1967.
Bowman's first trial ended as a mistrial after the jury became deadlocked during dilberations last week. Judge Zmuda said the jury selection process will take longer this time because of the wide media coverage of the case.
The second trial will begin Oct. 11. Prosecutors and a defense attorney wouldn't comment after the hearing because of a gag order in the case.
Bowman was linked to 14-year-old Eileen Adam's body after authorities said they obtained new DNA evidence. He has pleaded not guilty and faces life in prison if convicted.
