The site of a wild bar shootout in October should remain closed until at least January, according to city officials.
The Route 66 bar at 406 N. Westwood Ave. must comply with requirement of the city's Safety Director before it is allowed to re-open. The bar was closed after a gunfight erupted inside Oct. 8. Patrons spilled outside into the establishment's parking lot where the gunfight continued around Midnight.
No one was injured in the shooting.
An injunction was filed, days after the fight, to have the bar, near the University of Toledo campus, closed. The owner of the bar agreed to keep the bar's doors closed until a Dec. 7 hearing date. The City of Toledo now says the bar should not re-open until it complies with safety requirements set forth by the city.
The exact nature of those requirements are not known. Questions for the city's Safety Director, Bob Reinbolt, were not answered Wednesday.
