Sandusky man's classic Fords head to auction

A Sandusky manâ??s classic car collection is driving to the auction block.
The late Emery Ward, Jr. bought his first 1936 Ford Roadster in the mid-1970s. It was the first of 21 1936 Ford models he would buy and refurbish over the next 35 years. It was a passion that originated from a 1936 Ford dump truck he drove at the age of 14.
Ward passed away in 2007 at the age of 84. His family is now auctioning his 1936 Ford collection, along with several other vehicles this weekend at the Erie County Fairgrounds. The decision to sell is largely due to the inactivity of the vehicles and the family says they would be better valued in other hands.
â??Let somebody buy them thatâ??s going to really enjoy them, instead of them sitting in a poll barn,â?? said John Ward, one of Emeryâ??s four sons.
Other auto memorabilia from Emery Wardâ??s personal collection was auctioned on Friday. The 30 vehicles will be auctioned starting Saturday at 1:07 p.m.
