Sandusky murder suspect has lengthy criminal history

On Saturday afternoon Sandusky police arrested 41-year-old Curtis Clinton and charged him with the murders of Heather Jackson and her two children, 3-year-old Celina and 18-month-old Wayne. The bodies of the Jackson family were discovered Saturday night at their home on Johns Street in Sandusky. Police received a phone call from concerned relatives who had not heard from the family all day Saturday. Police arrived at the home at 8 p.m. and found Heather's lifeless body in her bedroom wedged bewteen a mattress and the bed frame. The children's bodies were found in a closet.

Police say that Heather Jackson and Clinton had been acquaintances for 5 months. According to Sandusky Police Lt. John Orzech, Clinton has a lengthy criminal history. "Mr. Clinton has served prison terms after being convicted of two counts of Felonious Assault and Involuntary Manslaughter in 1999 in Wood County," Lt. Orzech said. Clinton was released from prison just this past February.

Autopsies were performed today by the Lucas County Coroner. Authorities say the apparent cause of death is strangulation.

Clinton's first court appearance is Tuesday morning at Sandusky Municipal Court.
