'Santa' warns kids Christmas may be cancelled due to global warming

A recent video , aimed at children, depicts Santa warning that Christmas may have to be cancelled due to the effects of global warming.

Actor Jim Carter of â??Downton Abbeyâ?? portrays St. Nick in the video...and warns "melting ice here in the North Pole has made our operations and our day-to-day life intolerable and impossible".

The dark and sullen elf also claims he has written world leaders, including Presidents Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin, but none of them are taking action.

â??Sadly my letters have been met with indifference,â?? he says, as lights flicker in the room and water drips from the ceiling. â??Needless to say these individuals are now at the top of my naughty list.â??

Greenpeace released the video with the intent of raising awareness of the impacts of global warming.

In the end, "Santa" urges viewers to sign a petition to "Save Santa's Home".

The petition claims global warming is causing the North Pole to melt away faster and faster...and also warns of oil companies trying to drill in the Arctic.

â??My home in the Arctic is fast disappearing and unless we all act urgently then I have to warn you of the possibility of an empty stocking forevermore. Please help me.â??

We ask you...does the video go too far? Or is it a good way to get kids on-board with the fight against global warming?
