Semi driver falls asleep at the wheel, rear ends vehicle

SCOTT TOWNSHIP - A teen driver is in critical condition Tuesday morning after a crash with a tractor-trailer on US 23 in Sandusky County.

19-year-old Jacob Hutson, of Bradner, Ohio, was stopped in the northbound lanes at the intersection of US 23 and US 6, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

An oncoming commercial tractor-trailer, driven by 55-year-old Byron Wheeler, rear ends the teen's vehicle some time around 11:43 p.m. Monday.

Troopers said Wheeler had fallen asleep at the wheel at the time of the crash.

Huston's vehicle went off the left side of the road and hits a sign before coming to rest.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
