A semi truck veered off the road and crashed into an apartment complex on Maumee Western Road (US-20A) around 5:40 a.m. on Thursday. The collision occured after the semi hit a Ford Focus that ran a stop sign near Eber Road.

The driver of the Ford Focus, 57-year-old Frank Billings Jr. of Whitehouse, Ohio, was taken by Life Flight to University of Toledo Medical Center with serious injuries. The man who lived where the semi entered the building was buried under rubble during the collision, but emerged without a scratch.

Neighbors told WNWO that the man had just moved his bed to the other side of the room from where the semi made impact a week ago. The man did not want to speak to reporters at the time of the incident.

The semi truck driver, 50-year-old Dale Doxsee of Temperance, Mich., was also treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Toledo Edison Power Company responded to the scene and is currently working to replace the power pole to local residents. The crash remains under investigation.
