TOLEDO -- The Alpha Towers senior living apartment in central Toledo will close for several days after Toledo Fire officials discovered a massive water leak to its floors Monday evening.
Officials said the building could open some time Wednesday. Officials discovered a malfunction in a sprinkler head on the 8th floor, causing a leak from the 8th floor to the 1st floor.
A witness, at the scene, told WNWO that the leak looked like a "waterfall.â?? Another witness said there was a foot of water in their apartment.
The leak also affected the building's electrical system. That's when officials said residents could not stay in the building on Monday night.
Residents were waiting to be transported by TARTA to UAW Local 12 on Ashland or picked up by family members.
The Red Cross assisted residents to help find them a place to stay.
