Seth MacFarlane gets a new entertaining role

Oscar producers say they want to make the Academy Awards entertaining and fresh, so they've booked Seth MacFarlane as the host.

MacFarlane is the creative force behind "Family Guy" and co-creator of "American Dad" and also "The Cleveland Show." He says he will bring his "nothing is off limits" brand of humor to the Oscar stage on Feb. 24, 2013.

MacFarlane may be known best for his TV shows, but he made his box office debut this summer directing the hit movie "Ted." He also voiced the foul-mouthed teddy bear star of the movie.

Just last month, MacFarlane hosted the season premiere of Saturday Night Live.
