Shelter "thrilled" with promotion results, but still looking for adopters
TOLEDO, OH (WNWO) - Last week, we told you about Lucas County Canine Care and Control's "May the Fourth be with You" event. The dogs at the facility participated in star wars themed photo shoots to promote their reduced adoption fees for the weekend.
But NBC 24 went back to find out how successful the promotion was...
19 dogs were adopted during the 4-day promotion. Organizers say they were thrilled with the community's response to the event. They normally average about one adoption a day.
However, one dog in particular was not adopted. His name is Hector, and shelter workers were really hoping he would find a forever home.
"Hector's been with us since January, so we were really hoping he would find a forever home during the 'May the Fourth' promo, but he's still here. He's still looking for a home," explains Gabrielle Vitale, Community Outreach Coordinator for Lucas County Canine Care and Control.
"He loves to play with other dogs. He's a very happy boy. He's been here for about four months, so we really want to find him a good a home as we can."
The shelter's next upcoming promotion is Christmas in July. It will be held the whole month of July.
If you're interested in adopting Hector or one of the other dogs before then, the shelter is open from 11 AM to 7 PM on weekdays and 11 AM to 5 PM on weekends.
