17 hours after she was reported missing a Bedford Township teen was found safe. "At approximately 3:15 p.m. we received the information that the victim in this case, Hayley Turner, had been located in Ecorse, Michigan," said Dale Malone, Monroe County Sheriff. Malone said he had dispatched detectives to Ecorse to interview Turner and return her to family. "Throughout the day we had over 40 officers responding to tips from the community and one of those tips was the recovery of Ms. Turner's cell phone," Sheriff Malone said.
Turner was first reported missing at 10 p.m. Thursday night. According to police Turner was driving on Dean Rd. after having gone to a video rental store. A friend of Hayley's told police that she was on the phone with Hayley when Hayley got to the intersection of Dean and Crabb and saw a man lying in the ditch. Hayley told the friend she was speaking with she was going to help the man in the ditch. Seconds later Hayley told her friend the man had a gun and Hayley's phone disconnected. The friend called Hayley's dad, Tim, who rushed to the location. He found his daughter's car running, but empty, Hayley nowhere in sight.
