Nearly 200 Wood County children got to go on a Christmas shopping spree courtesy of a cop.
The Shop With a Cop program allowed the children to spend $80 at Wal-Mart on essential items for the winter, and then they got to pick out some toys.
Mary Ann Robinson is a Deputy Sheriff in the Wood County Sheriff's Department. She has participated in the program for two years now and says, "this is a great program because it allows children that are a little bit less fortunate then some to have a great Christmas and also learn that cops aren't bad folks."
Parents whose children participated called the program a joy.
Officers in other parts of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan also participated in Shop With a Cop today.
