      Sobriety checkpoint awaits drivers in Maumee Friday night

      MAUMEE, Ohio -- Lucas County Sheriff's deputies will conduct a sobriety checkpoint Friday night in an effort to deter and intercept impaired drivers.


      The checkpoint will be held from 8:30 p.m. Friday until 1:30 a.m. Saturday at Salisbury Road near Briarfield.


      The special enforcement is part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

      The checkpoint will be operated by officers from the Lucas County OVI Task Force and is funded by a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
