Social media helps nab Fostoria armed robbery suspect

Covered in a red-ski mask, the suspect is accused of entering the Circle K gas station on Lytle Street and demanding cash.

Fostoria Police are crediting social media with helping them identify an armed robbery suspect.

Just 5 hours after authorities announced they were looking for 19-year-old Dakota M. Sharninghouse, the teen turned himself in.

Sharninghouse is accused of robbing the Circle K on Lytle St. on Thursday night.

Authorities say he pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded cash.

The suspect then fled the scene with nearly $200 in cash but did not hurt anyone.

Surveillance video at the gas station allowed investigators to pull images of the suspect, showing his face both covered and uncovered.

Police then distributed the pictures using social media.
