A Perrysburg solar component manufacturer is one of the first recipients of a new Ohio grant program aimed at training workers in the advanced energy manufacturing sector.
First Solar of will receive up to $1.025,760 for worker training to manufacture photovoltaic modules at their Perrysburg manufacturing facility. First Solar has developed a breakthrough thin film module product that has the capacity for high volume production.
The company has the lowest production cost per watt in the photovoltaic industry, according to the Ohio Department of Development.
The Energizing Careers Program is administered by the Ohio Department of Development's Workforce and Talent Division. It reimburses the cost of training up to $6,000 for full time employees, with preferential project funding to companies located in the 44 Ohio counties impacted by the restructuring of the automotive industry.
