One man is dead, and another injured after a soldier on leave from the Army strangled his victims to exact revenge on his estranged wife, according to police.

Friends say 20-year-old Joel Krutsch was strangled by the 31-year-old soldier shortly before 9 a.m. on Saturday in Unit #63 at 2985 Gady Rd.

Krutsch and several other friends had been temporarily living at 18-year-old Scott Fernandezâ??s trailer home, including the suspect and his wife. Fernandez told WNWO the couple was going through a divorce, and the suspect exacted revenge.

Fernandez says the suspect, whose name police have not released, knocked on his door Saturday morning and said he â??needed helpâ?? with Krutsch. Fernandez found Krutsch strangled to death in the bathroom, and then felt a cord wrap around his neck.

â??He gave up on the cord after a little while and then pulled a knife out,â?? recalled Fernandez. â??He shoved me back into the wall, cracking it. I shoved him back, but he got three stabs in and out of my neck, shoulder, and face.â??
