Highway patrol troopers report speed, alcohol and lack of seat belt use were factors in a single car crash that took the life of a 20-year-old Seneca County man early Saturday.
According to the news release, 20-year-old Kevin Wertz was traveling southbound on C.R. 58 near Township Road 71A when he failed to yield at a stop sign, lost control and overturned into a ditch off the roadway. The vehicle contained three other passengers: 20-year-old Rachel Pennington, 18-year-old Alexander Ratchen and 20-year-old Jacob Hohman.
Hohman was transported to a Toledo hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries. He passed away later that evening.
The condition of the other passengers and driver are unknown at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
