Wednesday is the last â??officialâ?? day of this historic and record-setting winter. Can you believe it?
Winter ends with a spring-like day filled with showers, wind and mild temperatures. Enjoy as we have another week to ten days of winter-like weather to come before I see the first glimmers of spring waiting in the wings.
Periods of scattered showers will be with us throughout the day. It wonâ??t be a washout and you may want to take advantage of parts of the day as temps finally get above seasonal norms â?? into the low and mid 50â??s! Itâ??s also going to be a windy day with southerly winds gusting to 35 MPH. All in all I think weâ??ll take what we can get, right?
Overnight, and on the back/cold side of the storm, we get a blast of cold air and that will make our first day of spring feel very winter-like. We could see a few snow flurries overnight as temps fall into the upper twenties.
Spring officially arrives as the sun begins to move north of the equator at 1:57 p.m. Thursday. It will be a cold, raw day with highs struggling to get near 40 degrees but it will be windy and the â??feels-likeâ?? temps will be near the freezing mark at best.
We rebound Friday with mostly cloudy skies and a few spotty showers possible as a warm front moves through. Highs top out in the upper 40â??s â?? right where they should be climatically.
Iâ??m thinking our last Arctic Blast of the season moves in over the weekend. Highs by Sunday wonâ??t even get to the freezing mark. We stay cold through mid-week and could even see some accumulating snow Tuesday. Late in the week it looks like the flow of the Jetstream, which generated the historic winter, may change and allow Spring to finally JUMP!
Letâ??s hope the models are right-on. Stay tuned.
