Springfield Education Association (SEA) teachers voted Tuesday night to approve a new contract.
Earlier this Month, SEA threatened to strike but that was averted when SEA and the Springfield Board of Education reached a tentative agreement on May 11, 2012.
The agreement went through a ratification process last week. SEA President Marty Perlaky said only minor issues with language and health coverage were changed before tonight??s vote. Final details of the contract were not released to the media.
The contract will go before the public and Springfield Board of Education for final approval at Wednesday's 5:00pm board meeting.
Teacher contracts expired nearly a year ago on June 30, 2011. SEA and the Springfield Board of Education have been in negotiations for a year without reaching an agreement.
