Springfield Education Association (SEA) President, Marty Perlaky tells WNWO that SEA and the Springfield Board of Education has reached a tentative contract agreement.
Details of the agreement were not released to the media; however Perlaky says that minor details need to be worked out.
Teacher contracts expired nearly a year ago on June 30, 2011. SEA and the Springfield Board of Education have been in negotiations for a year without reaching an agreement.
In a general membership meeting Monday night, the Springfield teachers unanimously voted to authorize their bargaining team to send a 10- day strike notice to the Springfield Board of Education.
A ratification meeting will be held next week. Perlaky feels that after a ratification process, SEA will be happy with the agreed terms of the contract.
