Springfield Township is the latest municipality in northwest Ohio to offer text alerts to keep the community and residents informed.
Springfield Township trustees announced Monday that Springfield Township Alerts, a notification system providing both public service announcements and emergency alerts via text and email, is now being offered to anyone choosing to opt in.
The service is free and open to anyone whether they live, work, play, or have family that live in the township.
To sign up for the Springfield Township Alerts service, visit www.springfieldtownshipalerts.net.
The alerts system will provide public information for emergencies, including but not limited to snow emergencies, tornado warnings, and amber alerts. Lucas County Emergency Alerts will also be pushed out to anyone who signs up for the service.
Residents may also sign up for alerts regarding township information and events, planned township road closures, public services such as leaf and snow removal, and public meetings.
The service can also be used to make the township aware of a disability that would make it difficult for a resident in a time of disaster.
