Residents in Perrysburg are in for even more construction.

Single lane closures began on Monday on State Route 25 in Perrysburg over I-475. This marks the first major construction of the area, prior work had been done to prep the site.

"Today we took SR 25 down to one lane in each direction between Jefferson St. and Eckel Junction Rd," said Rebecca Shirling with the Ohio Department of Transportation.

ODOT says this is only the beginning of major lane closures.

"Next week when we switch to the western side of the bridge, they are going to be getting rid of the left turn lane from southbound SR 25 to southbound I-475, people will have to go down to Jefferson, do a u-turn and come back that way," said Shirling.

Jessica Hawkins is the manager at the Supercuts in Perrysburg located just off the exit and says while she's worried about a small impact on the amount of customers in her store, she think there are other ways to get around.

"I think the location we're at is awesome, because there's lots of routes to take to get here and we're just here for them whenever needed, it's a necessary project, so we understand," said Hawkins.

Completion date of the Divergent Diamond Interchange that is being constructed is set for October according to ODOT, however, beginning in mid-July, the southbound ramp to SR 25 will close for 5 weeks.
