St. John's Jesuit coach charged with driving drunk

Titans coach Ed Heintschel was cited for OVI in November of 2012.

Just weeks after celebrating his 600th career coaching win, St. John's Jesuit basketball coach Ed Heintschel will face charges for driving under the influence in Maumee last year.

According to a statement released by the school, Heintschel was cited by Maumee police for operating a vehicle under the influence on Nov. 26, 2012. The charge did not occur during school hours and he was not driving to or from a school event, according to school officials.

Principal Brad Bonham said Heintschel has been a valued member of the St. John's Jesuit faculty for more than 30 years serving as a teacher, counselor and basketball coach. The school is supportive of Heintschel as he goes through this difficult period, the statement reads.
