More than 200 people attended a special meeting of the Lake Erie Legislative Caucus at Maumee Bay State Park. The event was co-hosted by State Senator Randy Gardner and State Representative Chris Redfern. The focus of the caucus was on the Lake Erie algae bloom and the recent water crisis. "Ohioans deserve a healthy Lake Erie and we must have a strong agricultural economy," Mr. Gardner said. Other lawmakers on the panel were Michael Ashford and Teresa Fedor of Toledo, Senator Capri Cafaro of Hubbard and Representative Mike Dovilla of Berea.
Ohio Governor John Kasich announced that the state is making $150 million in interest free loans available to cities to make improvements to their water treatment facilities.
