Storm prompts tornado warning in Seneca County

A wall cloud with a possible funnel taken near Risingsun, Ohio.

A storm that moved through northern portions of Seneca County on Monday evening prompted the National Weather Service in Cleveland to issue a tornado warning around 9pm.

The public reported a possible funnel cloud to law enforcement...and when trained spotters caught up to the storm soon after, they confirmed the wall cloud and funnel.

According to Seneca County Emergency Manager Dan Stahl, there was some sort of structural damage to a building along Township Road 36, just to the southeast of the town of Kansas, Ohio.

Reports of damage in and around Bettsville have gone unconfirmed as of this writing.

The National Weather Service is expected to send a survey team to the area tomorrow to determine if the damage near Kansas was from strong thunderstorm winds...or from a weak tornado.
